Nicole Scott

6th Grade Teacher - Class of 2029

Waldorf experience: 4 years

Education: University of Washington, BA Creative Writing & Philosophy • Sound Circle Center, Waldorf Grades Certification • Middle Tennessee State University, MEd

Ms. Scott is entering her seventh year as a teacher, with previous experience in childcare, library services and horticulture. While working on farms, including one biodynamic operation, she felt led to explore Waldorf education, which brought her to work as an assistant in a Kindergarten classroom on Whidbey Island--and she has been teaching ever since.

Ms. Scott previously taught a middle school class with split grades at Sunfield Waldorf School & Farm, where she was able to develop her pedagogical approach and build a strong class community, while finishing her Waldorf certification. She went on to complete a Masters in Education while teaching 9-12th grade ELA in TN public schools. Between those two very different approaches, she has learned to balance the heart of Waldorf teaching with more practical classroom management and assessment strategies.

But perhaps best of all, Ms. Scott spent one year working as the Sunflower Kindergarten teacher at Linden Waldorf, during COVID! She already has some experience working within the Linden community, and is excited to return to serving the school in a deeper capacity. When not at school, Ms. Scott enjoys playing traditional fiddle music, singing shape note music, and social dancing. She also serves on the board for Nashville Country Dancers.
