Waldorf experience: 16 years
Education: Birmingham-Southern College, BM • University of Houston, MM
Deidre Emerson began teaching cello at Linden Waldorf by first teaching private lessons, then as a volunteer cello class instructor, and eventually as a staff instructor in 2011.
Ms. Emerson began playing cello at the age of five, and continued playing through school with private lessons and orchestras until she received bachelor's and master's degrees in Cello Performance. She’s taught consistently since 2005, including in a university setting since 2008. Currently, she teaches Cello at Tennessee State University, Nashville State Community College, and Trevecca Nazarene University. Ms. Emerson is happily involved in the Nashville music scene, performing and recording, and has taught in Metro schools, as well as in her own private cello studio.
Outside of making music, she enjoys spending time with her husband, Matt, and their children, Archer and Astrid. Enjoying gardening and studying Kung Fu takes up the rest of her precious spare time.
